Terms of use

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, provide accurate account information, and be legally able to accept these terms. One person may create multiple legitimate search profiles but may not impersonate another living person.

2. Permitted purpose

The service is for lawful family search and reunion connected to past adoption or closely related family separation. It may not be used to locate children available for adoption, arrange placements, bypass court orders, stalk or harass anyone, obtain financial information, conduct employment or credit screening, or build marketing lists.

3. Member conduct

You agree not to threaten, pressure, deceive, expose, blackmail, solicit money from, or repeatedly contact a person who declines contact. You may not upload malware, scrape the registry, evade access controls, or attempt to identify private-profile members outside the consent process.

4. Accuracy and verification

Member-submitted information may be incomplete, mistaken, or false. Match scores are automated leads, not proof of identity, legal relationship, medical history, inheritance rights, or biological parentage. Verify important claims independently.

5. Privacy and contact

Respect each member’s visibility and contact choices. Do not republish registry content, private messages, names, or identifying details without permission. A member may decline contact without explanation.

6. Free service and donations

Core registry services are provided without charge. Donations, if accepted, are voluntary and do not buy access, priority, information, or influence over match results.

7. Moderation

We may suspend profiles, restrict messaging, preserve evidence, or terminate accounts when reasonably necessary for safety, security, legal compliance, or rule enforcement. We are not obligated to mediate family disputes.

8. No professional services

The registry is not an adoption agency, government registry, private investigator, DNA laboratory, mental-health provider, emergency service, or law firm. State resource pages are informational and are not legal advice.

9. Availability and disclaimers

The service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee a match, reunion, uninterrupted access, permanent preservation of data, or the accuracy of third-party links.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, USA Adoption Registry and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the service, member conduct, failed or mistaken matches, emotional consequences, or third-party resources. Applicable law may provide rights that cannot be waived.

11. Changes and termination

We may update these terms or discontinue features. Continued use after an effective update constitutes acceptance where allowed by law. You may pause profiles or deactivate your account at any time.
